The Public Education Division seeks to reduce fire losses (i.e. lives and property) from the dangers of accidental fire through fire prevention and fire response procedures education.
Produce and distribute fire prevention safety literature.
Maintain Smoke Detector Giveaway Program for under-privileged elementary school children and senior citizens through the National SafeKids Network Program.
Install smoke detectors in low-income, high-risk areas to reduce the number of Grant County-area children injured or killed in fires and to reduce the number of childhood injuries.
Teach fire safety issues, such as the hazards of playing with matches, stop/drop/roll, and the proper procedures on vacating a burning building, etc. both in classrooms and in the department's Kids' Safety House , a mobile house on wheels designed to teach fire safety techniques.
Enforce codes and standards pertaining to prevention of fire in senior citizen occupancies.
The City desires to reduce the number of false fire alarm notifications by encouraging the proper design, installation, operation and maintenance of the alarm systems.

General Fire Safety Education - Provides general fire safety and fire extinguisher training to the general public in civic clubs, hospitals, hotels, motels, dormitories, special occupancies, nursing homes and to homeowners.
